Manaslu expedition

Manaslu is one of the popular peaks above 8000m for climbing in the Himalayas of Nepal. Manaslu (8156m) was first climbed in 1956 by a Japanese expedition. So many consider the three peaks of Manaslu as Japanese peaks as they were the first to reach its summit in 1956. Its name comes from the Sanskrit word manasa, meaning "intellect" or " soul" It is the same root word as that for Manasarover, the holy lake near Mt. Kailash in Tibet. Climbing Manaslu requires more time than other 8000m peaks in Nepal due to long approach to reach to the base camp of the mountain. However, helicopter can be used to make Manaslu expedition duration shorter, if you require. Normally, four camps will be set up in the approach of the mountain. There will be a few stretches of steep climbing and crevasses from Camp I to Camp II. Slippery snow climbing is required from Camp II to Camp III. Avalanches are a threat from Camp III to Camp IV.
