LOWER DOLPO TREKKING
The Dolpo region, designated as Shey
Phoksumdo National Park, is the most remote district in Nepal
situated in the Trans Himalayan region of mid-western Nepal.
Dolpo region is hard to match for its pristine beauty and
rugged charm. Lying in the rain shadow area of the Himalayas
.The landscape resembles that of the Tibetan plateau, instead
of the lush, green, monsoon watered hills else where in Nepal
at lower altitudes. Trekking in the lower region takes you
to ahead of Phoksumdo Lake at 3600 m also known, as the Blue
Lake. The trek crosses two high passes of Baga La (5070 m)
and Numa La (5190 m) into Dho Tarap village (4040 m) a region
inhabited by people practicing polyandry and pre-Buddhist
religion called "Bon Po".
Dolpo is also the home of rare Himalayan
animals like the Snow leopard, Tibetan bear and weasel. Also
here are many gombas and nice view of Kajiroba, other mountains
with forest. Upper Dolpo is deserted area and rich for cultural
trek. As the most remote and least developed district in Nepal,
this trek is reserved for those with a true sense of adventure.

Start from: Nepalganj
fly from Katmandu.
Cultural: Buddhism [sherpa] Buddhist monasteries
& Hinduism.
Max. Altitude: Numa la pass 5190m
Grade: Moderate & Challenging
Mountains: Api Himal, Api Saipal, Rakshya
Udai, Dhaulagiri Massif, Annapurna II, Kanjiroba Himal, etc.
Ending point: Juphal by flight to Nepalgunj
to Katmandu.
Possibility: Camping only.
