Manaslu Trekking
Manaslu area trekking enriches with
natural and cultural heritage. It was not opened for trekkers
until very recently. The trek begins in Gorkha. From Gorkha,
the historical city, where Pritthivi Narayan Shah unified
Nepal in 1769, we follow the Budhi Gandaki to the spring in
between the Gorkha and Ganesh Himal. We then cross the Larkey
La (5105 m) to make a circle around the mountain Manaslu Himal
(8163 m). Many 6000 - 7000 m high peaks and the Tibetan settlements
in the dramatic and remote areas of the Nepalese Himalaya
surround the trek. The home Country of the great Gurkha Army
has a mixed culture of Hindus and Buddhist. In spite of rugged
and steep trails and high altitude sickness problems this
trek can be regarded the perfect alternative to the highly
crowded treks like in Annapurna and Everest region. A special
permit is required for the trek, which has to be accompanied
by a liaison officer. The trek ends at Beshi Sahar or Pokhara.
